FY26 Agriculture Appropriations Summary

On Wednesday, Nov. 12, Congress passed the Continuing Appropriations, Agriculture, Legislative Branch, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Extension Act, 2026 (H.R.5371) to reopen the federal government. The law also includes full year appropriations (funding) for USDA programs through the end of the federal fiscal year, Sept. 30, 2026.Â
USDA funding is essential for Tribes and Tribal producers, supporting access to farm credit, conservation programming, nutrition assistance, education, and more. Below, IAC provides a summary of funding for key USDA programs for producers.
Office of the Secretary
$5.19 million for the Office of Tribal Relations (+$0 from FY25). Of this funding, $1 million is provided for funding a Tribal Public Health Resource Center with a focus on indigenous food sovereignty.
$500,000 for a new Seafood Industry Liaison
Farm Service Agency (FSA)
$1.125 billion for Salaries and Expenses (-$84 million from FY25). Of this funding $15 million is set aside for hiring new employees to fill vacancies and anticipated vacancies at FSA county offices.Â
The law also specifies that none of the funds can be used to close Farm Service Agency county offices or to permanently relocate county-based employees if it would result in an office with two or fewer employees without prior notice and approval of the Congressional Appropriations Committees.
